Picking Fingers

Picking Fingers

Recorded fingerstyle but the song wants a pick? Picking Fingers voices a bass DI the other way: pick from fingers, or fingers from pick. The change comes from measured recordings of the same basses played both ways, plus a matching transient stage, so it reads as a playing style, not an EQ preset. Dial the bite, tilt the tone, done.

Picking Fingers changes the playing character of a recorded bass: fingerstyle in, pick out, or pick in, fingers out. I measured matched recordings of the same basses played both ways and turned the difference into precision voicing filters, level-matched through the low end, so the tone and attack change while the weight stays exactly where it was. Digitally Analogue. Pick a voice (PICK 1, PICK 2, FINGERS 1, FINGERS 2, or OFF for a bit-exact passthrough), shape the measured per-note response with ATTACK, and add BITE for gritty definition at the front of each note without touching the sustain. BLEND sets how much of the voicing you take, AUTO-GAIN keeps voices at equal loudness while you compare, and a ±6 dB TONE plus input and output trims finish the job. Zero latency, mono or stereo, so it works while tracking as well as in the mix.
