Rare Flutes Reviews
the instruments here have incredible sounds and many options, however, not flexible at all in articulations and very limited range, only on the low notes, there are almost no instruments in the flute range and none on the piccolo. a lot of potential but it is time for an update guys
The sounds are even good but you can't make instruments have such a low range, this is actually trash atm.
I'd love to rate this positively, because the samples themselves are good, but surely you can get more range for each instrument? Take the Shakuhachi - gorgeous sound, but with a range of C4-D5, it's severely limited. IRL they can be played 2 full octaves, up to 3 with advanced technique...
Some sound good but the range is exessively limited for every instrument. I'm not sure you have access to even one octave of each instruments' range.
I think this is really cool. But it is only good for making ambient music. It doesn't fit too well with anything else. Also, they don't sound very much like the actual instruments. So if you want to make ambient music, I highly recommend. If not, I do not recommend.
Purchased for the ocarina recordings as I'm an ocarina player and composer. The ocarina recordings sound lovely, but the full range of the instrument is not available. The highest and lowest notes have no sound whatsoever. Specifically, standard Alto C ocarinas have a range of C5-F6 but the "Ocarina" file only reaches C5-E6. Subholes common on modern ocarinas extend this range down to A4, but these notes do not sound at all here. Meanwhile, the "Low Ocarina" option has notes from D4-E5. This range doesn't align well with G or bass ocarinas normally used for ensembles. Soprano ocarinas are not represented at all. Again, beautifully recorded and sounds lovely, but not the treasury of ocarina sounds I was hoping for.
I only have two complaints. My first is that certain instruments seem to ignore staccato marks (luckily just halving the note duration and leaving rests between gets them to sound right). My second is that I'd like to have higher-ranged versions of the ocarina and panpipe included; the panpipe in particular is labelled "panpipe low" despite not having a normal "panpipe" counterpart.
I don't think I've regretted my purchase, these are some amazing sounds. I imagine these will get better as the Muse Sounds playback system itself gets better.
Comparing the MuseSounds version to the original isn’t exactly fair, as it serves a different purpose. Where it excels is in providing a simple playback option for monitoring demos, making it a convenient tool for quick previews. However, it falls short for major projects where is needs to serve with more focus. The majority of the sounds struggle with natural legato, often feeling overly artificial or disconnected. That said, there was one exception that sounded surprisingly great. If you’re planning to use it for anything beyond basic playback and adding some spice, I highly recommend going for the Kontakt version instead. It offers significantly more control over dynamics and performance, making it a far better choice for serious compositions. Overall, 10/10 for certain use cases, but not a substitute for professional-grade libraries.
