ARDESS

ARDESS is a spectral de-esser that reduces only the part of the spectrum that is actually hissing, rather than turning down an entire frequency band. Everything outside the selected sibilance range remains untouched, preserving the natural brightness, air, and detail of the source. Detection adapts to the recording itself. A cut is triggered only when the sibilance band rises above its recent level and stands out against the body of the voice, helping distinguish genuine sibilance from bright vowels, cymbals, and other steady high-frequency content. Because the threshold is relative rather than fixed, bright and dark recordings respond consistently. The sibilance range is shown directly on the spectrum and can be adjusted by dragging its boundaries. DELTA monitoring plays only what is being removed, making it easy to check that ARDESS is reducing unwanted hiss without taking away the voice.
