A 3D Sonic Sculptor
PolyNodes is a generative sound synthesis platform that transforms audio into an interactive three-dimensional structure. Designed and developed by Sinan Bokesoy in collaboration with Daito Manabe, PolyNodes analyzes the temporal properties of an input sound across macro, meso, and micro scales, then maps key moments as interconnected nodes within a unique geometric form. Multiple playheads, called node agents, navigate this structure using different movement strategies, resynthesis methods, and signal processing techniques. This makes it possible to explore sound through spatial movement rather than a traditional linear waveform. PolyNodes also includes interactive DSP objects whose influence changes according to their proximity to the node agents. Additional modulation comes from real-time spatial data, geometric morphing through Isomorph states, and integrated stochastic modulators, binaural 3D audio rendering, creating an immersive environment for generative composition and experimental sound design.
