ARRIDE automatically evens out level the way an engineer would ride a fader: gradually, phrase by phrase, without compressing the dynamics within each phrase. This helps create a more consistent vocal or dialogue level while preserving the natural differences between individual syllables and transients. Unlike a conventional compressor, ARRIDE uses a slow level detector that does not react to the small gaps between syllables. In testing, it reduced phrase-to-phrase level variation by 78% while keeping the dynamics within each phrase close to the original. ARRIDE also avoids pulling up room tone between phrases. When the signal drops below the gate, gain gently returns toward neutral so the next phrase begins from a balanced position. TARGET mode rides the signal toward a fixed level, making it suitable for dialogue, vocals, and podcasts. BED mode follows a sidechain signal instead, allowing a voice to maintain its position relative to changing music levels. Latency remains fixed at 20 ms.
