Free Line

Fifteen plugins, free. Not demos, not time limited, not cut down versions of something bigger - these are the tools themselves. They are built the way the rest of the line is built: one house style, the processors with the same preset browser, A/B and undo, and every claim on a product page measured rather than asserted. The four analysers leave your audio alone: ARMETER's measuring block takes the buffer as a const reference, so touching it would not compile, and its tests prove the output is bit identical to the input at seven block sizes. Of the three utilities, ARUTIL at unity and ARDITHER at OFF pass the input through sample for sample; ARGEN is a generator and makes its own signal. The two newest answer the questions ears get wrong. ARREF plays finished records next to your mix and matches their loudness by lowering the louder side; with the mix heard, its output is the input, sample for sample. ARNULL subtracts one signal from another and reports what is left - exactly zero when the only difference is a whole number of samples of delay. ARWAVE is the odd one out: a wavetable synthesizer rather than a processor, and the first free instrument in the line. One oscillator, sixteen factory tables, eight unison voices, one filter and two envelopes - the smallest honest version of the ARSYNTH engine. ARGATE Gate and downward expander. RANGE is the point: below the threshold it does not mute, it reduces by a fixed amount. ARTS Transient shaper. Attack and sustain come from pairs of envelope followers, and the band selector lets the detector listen to only the part of the spectrum you care about. ARSAT Saturation with four curves, eight times oversampled. The dry path is delayed to match, so a parallel mix stays phase aligned. ARTONE Three band tone control on a true crossover, flat to 0.00 dB at unity, with two split points you drag in the display. ARWIDTH Stereo width on a mid/side encode, with MONO BELOW so the bottom end stays where it belongs. ARMETER Loudness meter: momentary, short term, integrated, range and true peak, to the broadcast standard. The output is the input, sample for sample. ARSPEC Spectrum analyser, 32768 points, with a peak-hold trace, tilt, a mid/side view and correlation. The audio passes through untouched. ARSCOPE Triggered oscilloscope, goniometer and ten seconds of correlation history. The audio passes through untouched. ARTUNER Chromatic tuner with a strobe display, alternate tunings and an adjustable reference pitch. The audio passes through untouched. ARNULL Null tester. It lines two signals up, subtracts them and reports what is left, with a spectrum of the remainder. Same signal, whole-sample delay: exactly zero. The main output is the input, delayed by its latency. ARREF Reference player. Up to eight finished records next to your mix, switched with one click and matched in loudness by lowering the louder side. With the mix heard, the output is the input, sample for sample. ARGEN Calibrated test signal generator: sine, log sweep, white and pink noise, and a one-sample impulse. ARUTIL Gain, polarity, channel routing and a DC filter. At unity the output is the input, sample for sample. ARDITHER Bit depth reduction with TPDF or noise-shaped dither. At OFF the audio is untouched. ARWAVE Wavetable synthesizer with one oscillator: sixteen factory tables, eight unison voices, one filter and two envelopes. With the filter off the output is the oscillator itself, bit for bit.
