Play a few seconds of the voice and click LEARN. Chamfer places its band where that voice's esses live, calibrates its threshold to the singer or speaker and suggests a starting AMOUNT. AMOUNT sets how far each s is reshaped toward the voice around it, and RANGE is a hard cap that no single cut can pass. Three styles shape the cut. SMOOTH turns down everything from the band's low edge up and suits dense material, SPLIT turns down the band alone like a classic de-esser, and SURGICAL reshapes each s frequency by frequency. A built-in guard never pushes an s more than 10 dB under the surrounding voice, and clicks, breaths and bright vowels get little or no reduction. The display shows what happened. The RIDE line is the threshold, drawn live as it follows the performance, and the shaded area inside the band is exactly the energy removed. Every detected s appears as a bar in the ESSES strip; click one to freeze a card with that s drawn before and after, plus the depth Chamfer commanded for it and how sure it was. BAND, VOICE and REMOVED let you hear the band alone, everything outside it, or just what Chamfer takes out. PRECISE latency hears each s just before it plays, and LIVE runs with no latency for tracking and the stage. Detection can treat both channels, the mid alone or the sides alone, where the sizzle of stacked backing vocals sits. 24 factory presets are named for sources, from pop leads and fast rap to podcasts, hi-hats and full mixes, and you can save your own. AU, VST3 and AAX on macOS; VST3 and AAX on Windows. Installs and updates through MuseHub, with no license key. Requires macOS 10.15 or later on Intel or macOS 11 or later on Apple silicon, or Windows 10 or later, 64-bit.

What’s new

  • You can now save your own presets: open the PRESETS menu, choose Save preset..., and your presets appear under User in the same menu, where you can rename or delete them. The ABS THR readout now shows the actual dBFS level that triggers de-essing (-98 to -38), Removed is exact in every mode including Live Split and Surgical, and the analyzer axis matches the real sample rate.
