Caliper Compressor

Four honest compressor behaviours in one unit: FET, Opto, Tube and Clean, each with its own detection, ballistics and colour. Switch modes and the whole machine re-lights around one gain-reduction display, with the real attack and release times for the mode you are in. Zero added latency in every mode.

Previews

Caliper Compressor puts four compressor circuits into one plugin, so you pick the character a track needs instead of loading another compressor. A compressor evens out the loud and quiet parts of a performance. Choose FET for fast, gritty control, Opto for smooth leveling, Tube for a wide soft knee and warmth, or Clean for transparent compression with no added color. Set attack and release by ear where a mode has them, or type exact times. Blend compressed and uncompressed sound with Mix for parallel compression, then set the level with Output, with automatic make-up gain in Tube and Clean. Listen plays exactly what the compressor is reacting to, and a sidechain high-pass filter keeps heavy low end from driving it. Mix and Output never move between modes, and the plugin adds no latency, so it suits recording as well as mixing. Four modes share one control surface, with four FET ratios plus an ALL position, stereo link from 0 to 100 percent, and one display carrying the input history, the gain reduction and a needle on a 0 to 24 dB arc. Bypass crossfades without a click, so every comparison is about the compression itself.

What Caliper Compressor offers

Four compressor behaviours in one unit: FET, Opto, Tube and Clean, each detecting its own way
Feedback-style detection on FET, Opto and Tube; Clean is feedforward with exact knee math
FET: 20 to 800 µs attack, ratio buttons at 4:1, 8:1, 12:1 and 20:1, plus the ALL setting
Real times, not percentages: attack and release read and type in µs, ms or seconds, per mode
Full sidechain kit: external input, 20 to 500 Hz high-pass, listen, and 0 to 100 % stereo link
Zero added latency in every mode, parallel Mix on the unit, click-free bypass crossfade

What’s new

  • First MuseHub release of Caliper Compressor (1.1.0). The MuseHub edition installs and opens directly from the Hub.
  • New in 1.1.0: exact attack and release fields showing the physical time for the current mode, a clearer AUTO release, an exact readout for Tube and Clean thresholds below the visible history, stable MIX and OUTPUT positions across modes, and larger sidechain and LINK faces.
