MuseSounds Pro welcomes Cinesamples

Five Cinesamples libraries are now part of MuseSounds Pro: CineStrings, CineBrass, CineWinds, CinePerc and VOXOS Epic Choirs. Subscribers get the Cine orchestra and an epic choir for MuseScore Studio at the same price, and the subscription grows to 34 libraries.

Below you’ll find what each of the five libraries covers, what changes for the cost of writing in the Cinesamples sound, and how to install them if you already subscribe.

The Cine orchestra joins the subscription

MuseSounds Pro is the MuseHub subscription for the paid MuseSounds, the sample libraries built for playback in MuseScore Studio. The five new libraries are the four sections of the Cine orchestra, recorded at the MGM Scoring Stage at Sony Pictures Studios in Los Angeles, and VOXOS Epic Choirs. With them, Pro has 34 libraries from eleven makers. The price stays at ₩29,000 a month or ₩299,000 a year.

Cinesamples makes sample libraries for film, TV and game scoring. Its MuseSounds Editions take recordings from its flagship libraries and reprogram them for MuseScore Studio, so they follow the slurs, dynamics and articulations in your score. They play only in MuseScore Studio, not in a DAW (digital audio workstation).

What each library adds

The four Cine sections were recorded in place on one stage with the same setup, so they blend when you use them together. VOXOS comes from a different room and adds voices on top.

CineStrings
₩66,000

CineStrings is the full string section, made for what Cinesamples calls the modern “Hollywood style” of film, trailer and game music. Start with it if you want the whole Cine sound; the other three sections were recorded on the same stage and blend with it.

CineBrass
₩88,000

CineBrass is the brass section, played by Los Angeles session musicians including members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Every instrument has true legato, which means the library recorded the move from one note to the next, so a slurred horn line connects the way a player would connect it.

CineWinds
₩66,000

CineWinds covers the essential instruments of the orchestral woodwind section. Cinesamples selected it from its CineWinds Core and CineWinds Pro libraries, keeping the articulations it considers most useful for modern orchestral writing.

CinePerc
₩88,000

CinePerc covers orchestral percussion, world percussion, big sound-design hits and small oddities, a typewriter included. Staff text, such as a mallet change or a different drum size, switches the sound without adding an instrument to the score.

VOXOS Epic Choirs was recorded at Bastyr Chapel in Seattle. It has a mixed choir, a boys choir, a boy soloist and a soprano soloist. It sings 30 syllables, short or sustained, which you choose by typing them as lyrics under the notes. Lyric playback works on the Men, Women and Full Chorus presets and needs MuseScore Studio 4.4 or later. Moonlight Empire used VOXOS for a cinematic choral layer on the album ‘Moonoir’, and how Moonlight Empire made ‘Moonoir’ goes through the rest of the album’s tools.

What changes for your scores

Until now, the Cine sound meant buying each library on its own. Bought one by one, these five cost $269.95 in the US store at their regular prices, more than a year of Pro there. A subscriber now has them next to the Vienna series from Vienna Symphonic Library, the Symphony series from Spitfire Audio and Audio Imperia’s Nucleus.

The Mixer in MuseScore Studio sets a library for each instrument, so one score can mix makers. Keep CineBrass on the horns and try another maker’s strings under them, or put VOXOS over the free Muse Strings. You hear each choice on your own score before you settle on one sound.

Eight Cinesamples libraries stay outside Pro: CineStrings Solo, CinePiano, CineHarps, Tina Guo Acoustic Cello, Taylor Davis Violin, Randy’s Prepared Piano, Viola Da Gamba, and Dulcimer and Zither. You buy each once and keep it, and it plays alongside the Pro libraries in the same score. Cinesamples MuseSounds goes through all thirteen, with a cello-and-piano excerpt played three ways.

How to get them

If you already subscribe, the five libraries are included, but they don’t install themselves. Download them from MuseHub:

  1. Open MuseHub and sign in with the account you subscribe with.
  2. Go to the MuseSounds Pro page in MuseHub. It lists every library in the subscription.
  3. Download CineStrings, CineBrass, CineWinds, CinePerc and VOXOS Epic Choirs.
  4. Restart MuseScore Studio if it was already open.
  5. Open a score, open the Mixer, and choose a Cinesamples sound for each instrument.

If you don’t subscribe yet, start MuseSounds Pro from its product card below, then follow the same steps. MuseHub runs on Windows and macOS. On Linux, MuseSounds Manager installs only the free MuseSounds, so the Pro libraries need MuseHub on Windows or macOS. Pro has no free trial, and the twelve free MuseSounds stay free whether you subscribe or not. How to use MuseSounds in MuseScore Studio walks through the Mixer step by step.
