Muse Brass Reviews
My scores don't sound right any more, and the new dynamics and articulation to me sounds glitchy. My scores sound different and it changes how they sound entirely.
This is a good pack, but at different intervals, it assumes different dynamics, and I'm forced to tweak it. I want there to be voicing options with mutes--such as going "wah" on a trumpet.
Trumpets now do not have staccatissimo, horns now don't automatically do staccato in extremely fast passages. Horns have strange volume ranges for one dynamic. Could 2 different types of style settings be implemented in terms of articulation and tonguing when it's turned on and off, the notes have harder/softer attacks, so it isn't just accents and marcatos where the timbre and full note volume changes.
Gotta fix the horn and bass trombone soundfonts a bit, they make this glitch noise whenever I use horn staccatissimo or bassbone staccato. And don’t forget—I repeat—do NOT forget that the cimbasso and the ensembles need more extended ranges. Take all the time you need, don’t rush. ~Marq V.
They fixed the trumpets!!!!! I like the soundfont. For being free it's pretty nice, except for the fact that the trumpets break every other update. I'm not an expert so I cannot give a good review but hey I still like it.
I found that muted brass's volume are too low DESPITE fortissississississimo(ffffff). This issue greatly broke the balance of instruments. Hope it can be resolved in an upcoming update.
Please add common brass instruments such as the cornet, alto horn, euphonium and tenor horn.
It is necessary an immediate update cause when using staccatissimo on solo horn it crashes the sound very bad and solo and a3 trombone doesn’t play staccatissimo with sordina. Plus reverb doesn’t affect the sound at all, leaving every instrument dry even when putting it at max volume.
putting staccatissimo on horns make everything else bug out and go quiet for a moment
Muse Brass is a useful and well-balanced brass library, especially for sketching, studying, and composing in MuseScore. The sound is clear and pleasant, but there are still some limitations in the articulations, repeated notes, and especially the naturalness of the dynamics. For those working with Classical-period music, the French horns could be improved. The sound is somewhat modern and homogeneous, whereas an optional set of natural horns from the 18th century would be extremely valuable, with different open/stopped tones, more varied attacks, and a more authentic response. Overall, Muse Brass is a good and practical library, but greater articulation variety, more organic dynamics, and historically informed.
As someone else has pointed out, after the most recent update brass instrument can play staccato. Trumpet staccato was already too long before this update, but now neither horns nor trumpets can play staccato unless notated with a staccatissimo mark (and even then, horns are not really playing staccatissimo). Accents even seem to work better to shorten the notes than staccato markings.

thank you for fixing dynamic issues in 1.0.3! 1.0.4 however added back issues with staccatos, especially with high brass sustaining past their cutoffs even with staccato markings. also, short notes being louder than longer notes still has not been addressed.
PLEASE make glissandos work with musesound trombones… it only works with MS basic :((
Some instruments still work okay, others (such as horns, trumpet, trombone) are back to blaring through staccato passages and even rests.
The staccatos in the new update sound very distant and have too much reverb, especially on the trumpet and French horn. I think they should include samples without reverb, as some pieces require a more present sound from the brass.
1.05 has fixed the solo sampling issues seen in 1.02 & 1.04. However, "staccatissimo" on the solo horn is now causing notable stuttering in playback. "Staccato" on bass trombone suffers from similar stuttering, albeit less intense.
Overall, as a free pack, it's great. Definitely way better than the Muse Basic Sounds. However, as other people have expressed, trumpets, as well as horns, do not play staccato markings as indicated. I've tried this with and without the "Natural Dynamics" sound flag, to no avail. Additionally, I quite liked the change to the trombone volumes, especially at mezzo-forte, from v1.0.2, and I was disappointed that the update as a whole was reversed when it was really trumpets that were the main problem. Overall, as a free pack; it's certainly competes well with the other paid VSTs on here, and I appreciate all the hard work you do to make a quality product.

They now completely ignore staccato notes, playing staccato passages as if they were written legato. It’s so frustrating when an update comes along and completely breaks the performance of a piece like this. :(

It’s kind of middle-of-the-road for me, and I sometimes just replace it with Konkat alternatives.
You guys got me very scared, and I have now unscared myself. Thanks!
The sticcatos are not good for horn. also, trombone's A1 spicatto is a little out of tune
Thank you for reverting this update it sounds much better
Once again, trumpets and horns don't play staccatos short. In addition, not only does the solo horn get its ugly baked-in reverb back, but now ALL the solo instruments do! Tuba's accents also sound a lot weaker without natural dynamics enabled, but that's more of a minor gripe. A lot of people were complaining about the staccato issues and baked-in reverb on the solo horn in 1.0.2. Your team was clearly listening to feedback when you reverted it with 1.0.3, so why are all but a few of the things people were complaining about still present in the revised patch?
