- Glissando and Portamento improvements for Classic Phrasing
- Fixes to Violas and Contrabasses portamento
Description
We set out to record both sectional and solo strings, performing an in-depth palette of articulations with a modern yet expressive playing style and recorded with great studio gear. After almost a year of painstaking sessions, recordings, editing and programming Muse Strings is ready to take your compositions to new levels of realism. The collection is designed with a consistent set of articulations across all sections and instruments. Expressive sustains, true legato, portamento and fast run samples bring your melodic lines to new heights. Trills have been recorded up to a perfect 5th, which can add a wonderful colour to your score. There’s an array of short notes, with speed controlled staccatos and staccatissimos, pizzicatos (including snap/Bartok pizz) and col legno to add energy and motion into your composition. Marcatos, accents, senza vibrato sustains, as well as sustains played “sul tasto” and “sul ponticello” round out this impressive collection. From energetic action sequences to romantic scenes, Muse Strings brings emotion and realism to your score.
Muse Sounds require no set up or effort to work with - simply write your music and push play.
Best of all, Muse Strings is completely FREE for you to use in your compositions.

Here is a fix for the solo violin playing glissando or portamento between all notes.
Choose standard phrasing and non-legato. Then switch to classic phrasing, the non-legato option will remain. This works for most slurred notes and all non-slurred notes

this thing is so funny it puts slides from open string notes to fingered notes and it's like bruh the only way that would happen is if you're (a) very sloppy or (b) playing everything on 1 string which no one would do that there are 4 strings come on. slides also occur between fingered notes on the same string, like between notes for first and third finger. the only way a slide would be there is if you are only using 1 finger. you have 4 fingers. I have worked around this by adding a very short rest, which gets rid of the slide. A short enough rest is unnoticeable. The sliding should be reworked to take into account that violin, viola, and cello (and bass, but i haven't used that sound) have 4 strings, and the player typically has 4 fingers.

If you try to play a fast run on the strings the tone quality plummets. The strings also sound out of tune. Even though I hate the timbre of the MS Basic strings they do not struggle with this problem at all.

Solo string versions slide around so much it barely sounds like the realy notes and ends up being dissonant with the rest of the parts. Sections are so blurry and airy. I honestly thing this needs an insane amount of refining and redoing.

Sounds Live Strings and sounds real but sometimes if there's a note changes it became cut a little and play again I wish there is more Sampled Live Orchestral Strings including pop and Jazz as well and dynamics as well looks soft and suddenly loud make the strings more modulate and Real Recorded Live Strings Thank you.

Better than the inbuilt string sounds in general, with one notable exception: Slurred expressions are interpreted as glissandi between all the notes. That's not what the slur means on a stringed instrument and it sounds awful; makes a beautiful violin melody sound like it is being sung by a miaowing cat. I tried deactivating the "play" property on the slurs, to see if that helps, but it doesn't. Switching to "classic phrasing, ordinary" helps a bit, but not completely. I've had to switch to a different sound that does not suffer from this problem.

i installed the package and at first I was very happy about the sound improvements, but I noticed some chords sounded odd and some notes didnt sound the same on the real piano so I checked it with my tuner and while both were tuned to round about A=442 the sound was off nearly a quartertone at same other notes. Also i noticed the solo cello doing a weird accent on the end of notes

The lowerstrings (cello and double bass) sound great in both arco and pizz. although it is a pity that there's no solo double bass. The viola are buy default very quiet but luckely this can easily be changed throuhg the mixer. I do not like the violins wich often result in me not using the violins very often. Pizz. does sound good thouhg.
