Muse Brass Reviews
I bet if you had added a euphonium originally when you made this pack for the first time, it wouldn't be costing money now. 15 dollars (on sale btw) for a euphonium is CRAZY. The tuba has a glitch with the audio and that's already a separate problem. Where is my euphonium? So sad that you're separating it from the rest just to get a few more bucks. All you had to do was add it to the free brass pack like how you did when you added a ton more percussion instruments to the free percussion pack. I was so happy when I got the ad for the euphonium on MuseScore, and then I checked the site and turns out, you ruined everything. Make it free. Refund everyone who buys it.
i really love this musesound but it's lacking some things. 1. no portamento glissando support, i want this so bad, especially for the trombones. 2. please make it so trumpet a4 can go down to at least a concert e3. (solo trumpet can but trumpet a4 can't for some reason) 3. a tuba a2 or a3 would be nice, same with bass trombone.
Good free brass sounds but too big gap between mf and f for trombone
These sounds are extremely good but are missing a key part of the brass section... EUPHONIUMS! We need euphoniums and it's a major part of the ensemble. Please add it soon!!
Partner Response: We have just added a Euphonium library to MuseHub. Thanks for your feedback!
There are six different types of flutes between the piccolo, flute 1, flute 2, alto flute, bass flute, and contrabass flute. And yet there is only trumpet, horn, trombone, bass trombone(only recently added), cimbasso, and tuba. There is somehow a cimbasso before euphonium, Eb/C/piccolo trumpet, Eb/C/Bb cornet, baritone, differentiation between Eb/C/Bb/F tubas, soprano/alto/contrabass trombone, flugelhorn, or even alto/tenor horn(brass band). Most people have never even heard of a cimbasso before, and still it came out before all of those and the bass trombone.
Partner Response: Sorry we didn't meet your needs in our FREE brass library. Perhaps some of your brass instrument needs will be covered in one of our partner's libraries on the Hub such as Vienna Brass, CineBrass, Berlin Brass, and Symphony Brass.
the dynamics on the trumpet are atrocious its so bad like if you want a trumpet, don't get this. The volume switches randomly
I am so impressed!
it sounds great, but pretty much every wind instrument as far as i could tell has trouble swinging notes when either when written in a “swung” style or manually writing it in the notation.
This is an excellent set of brass instruments; it's made my MuseScore experience much better. While my one issue is completely understandable, it does cause some problems in the piece I downloaded this for. The Horn in F doesn't have B2 (sounding as E1) in the library, which is used frequently in my score. This is a *very* low note, which I imagine is quite difficult to produce consistently. Still, it is entirely possible for professional horn players, especially those who specialize in the lower register. I would be glad to see the horn's range extended.
Partner Response: Hi there, We are sorry for the frustration this may have caused. Please submit a ticket to our help desk here so we can address this issue: https://support.musehub.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new
The timbre is a huge upgrade compared to the original sound fonts so if you mainly use Musescore as a playback software, it's a no brainer, but the unbalanced dynamics ruin it for score writers.
The solo instrument sounds are a significant improvement to the muse basic ones, despite some inconsistencies with dynamics. However it would be nice to also update this pack with other orchestral brass instruments such as a euphonium and Alto and F Contrabass Trombones. As a further request, I feel this package needs a similar counter-part package for Brass Band instruments such as Eb and Bb Cornets, Eb Tenor and Bb Baritone Horns, and Eb and Bb Bass Tubas. All in all this package is very useful despite being underdeveloped.
Well, it's free (for now…), so I won't complain. Is it perfect? No. Does it require tuning? Yes, but it's always been the case with Musescore, and it's so much more decent than what we used to have, so...
The tuba sometimes creates very annoying clicks after playing any notes that aren't accent. Please fix this.
Good sounds, but ensembles aren't good in playing fast staccatos.
Trombones are not very balanced when it comes to dynamics. For example I put it as mezzo-forte which is supposed to be a medium LOUD, and I still can't hear it that much when all the other instruments are playing.
Great, but there's no euphonium, and the dynamics are not good. Also, there's a weird cutoff sound on some notes on the tuba.
I really like Muse Brass! The sound quality and range of instruments are impressive. However, when it comes to writing for concert band, marching band, and jazz band, this pack feels a bit limited. You already have great jazz saxophones in Muse Woodwinds, so I would love to see jazz trumpets, flugelhorns, trombones, and bass trombones added. For concert band, it would be great to include a euphonium, Bb tuba, and Eb tuba. For marching band, adding a mellophone, baritone horn, and sousaphone would be beneficial. In terms of brass band, it would be fantastic to have cornets, bugles, flugelhorns, alto horns, baritone horns, euphoniums, Eb tubas, and Bb tubas. For orchestral works, it would also be nice to have a piccolo and bass trumpet included. These additions could significantly enhance Muse Brass and make it a more versatile tool for composers and arrangers.
not all balance, and also the sound of the trombones are not balance its like overplayed same as the french horns.
The muted brass should include different mutes (Straight, Harmon, etc.) and the section brass sounds have to share the same range as their solo counterparts for ultimate versatility along with new sounds like (Tuba section, Bass Trombone section, Cimbasso Section, etc).
I forgot where I read it, but the publishers do acknowledge that its all played in legato other than when you have staccatos. I don't know why they made this design choice, I can't use this for an even remotely fast fanfare.
Partner Response: You can use "Classic Phrasing" to only allow the legatos to play when under a slur or phrase mark.
Overall this is alright, but it has its quirks. Dynamics are very unstable, weird transpose ranges from solo to assemble, and the horns do not sound realistic. However, you can edit the sounds in the mixer to sort of fix the dynamics issue. It's decent, but decent is not good.
The sound is great but the dynamics are just almost terrible. the contrast is too much whenever you have a crescendo or dynamic change. Hopefully this will be fixed later on :) but otherwise is a great addition but I can't really use it because of the its dynamic changes.
nice sound with unbalanced dynamics, hope to fix it in the next update.
The solo and ensemble sounds are excellent on their own. The dynamics levels are not balanced, and very hard to arrange with. Specifically, solo trombone is inaudibly quiet at p or pp, barely there at mp, ok at mf, and blasting at mf or above. The range of instrumentation is also limited, I'd love to see Euphonium, Flugelhorn, and supported for various types of mutes.
