Three ways to deal with pitch: correct it, harmonise it, or edit it note by note. The two harmonizers differ in how long they are allowed to take. ARHARM reports 69 ms, which a session compensates, and spends that time on a pitch estimate that tracks down to 60 Hz. ARHARM LIVE reports 27 ms, fixed, for the stage, where nothing compensates, and harmonises from 100 Hz up. The two pitch correctors share one tracker at the same fixed 16 ms: ARTUNE LIVE keeps the controls you can reach mid-song, ARTUNE STUDIO adds what a session needs. ARTUNE STUDIO Pitch correction for the session: key, scale, a twelve- note keyboard, and the controls a take needs when you have time to spend on it. Reports 16 ms, fixed. Up to four more voices cut from the take you already have, locked to your key and scale, formants kept. Reports 69 ms, which the host compensates. It hears a monophonic take as notes and lets you move, stretch, retune and redraw them by hand - for the one word that will not sit right. Every voice is cut from the recording itself and laid back down, which moves the pitch and leaves the spectral envelope where it was: it is the same singer, not a smaller one. Unpitched moments - consonants, breaths, the gaps between words - pass through bit for bit.
