Kiln Synthesizer is a software instrument you play from a keyboard, with three sound sources, two filters, modulation, an arpeggiator and nine effects in one plugin. Build a sound in three slots, each running a wavetable you scan through, an analog shape or a sample, plus sub and noise. Shape it with two filters, either of which can be Glass, a resonator that gives any source a physical body: material, size, strike point and ring time. Add movement with four envelopes, four LFOs and a 48-route modulation matrix, turn chords into patterns with the arpeggiator, then finish through nine reorderable effects. Drop an audio file into Anneal and it searches for four editable patches that come close to that sound, a starting point for editing, not an exact copy. Anneal runs on your own computer, so your audio never leaves your machine. Choose ECO, STD or ULTRA quality per sound, let AUTO ease the load as you play, and Kiln uses the highest setting when your DAW reports an offline render. With 554 tagged, searchable presets, four named macro knobs on each, and 80 in-house wavetables, Kiln gives you sounds right away and room to build your own. Browse the presets in Kiln's own preset browser; your DAW's preset menu shows only a single Default entry.
